Turn your bedroom into a calming cocoon

By BairodJune 30, 2026

The bedroom should be the calmest room in the house, yet it's often neglected. Good news: making it a cocoon takes no big works, just the right moves on colour, textiles and light.

Soft, warm colours

For a cocoon, avoid bright cool tones. Go for soft, enveloping shades: taupe, powdery terracotta, sage green, warm beige. A slightly muted colour on the headboard wall is enough to wrap the room.

Soft tones, linen and knit: the bedroom becomes a cocoon.

Layer textiles

This is the heart of the cocoon: stack materials on the bed (washed-linen cover, chunky-knit throw, cushions of varied sizes) and add a soft rug to step onto when you wake. Touch matters as much as looks.

Banish the lone ceiling light

A cosy bedroom lives in low warm light: two bedside lamps (or sconces), a soft string light, even a candle. 2700K everywhere. In the evening, never the big ceiling light.

Clear the surfaces

The brain relaxes in a tidy room. Keep clutter-free nightstands (a lamp, a book), put the rest away. Fewer objects in sight = calmer sleep and a prettier room.

Add life and nature

An easy plant, natural materials (rattan, wood, linen), maybe a subtle room scent: these details ground the room in calm and bring it alive without cluttering it.

A cocoon is soft on the eyes, soft to the touch, soft in its light. Start by layering a throw and switching your bulbs to 2700K, the mood changes tonight.
