Tip
Turn a tiny balcony into a real living corner
Three poorly-used square metres are a whole extra room we rarely give ourselves. With a few smart moves, even a narrow balcony becomes the spot you linger in all summer. Here's how to think it through.
Lay a real floor
The original grey tiling kills the mood. Click-together wood or composite tiles, or a large outdoor rug, instantly warm things up and define the lounge corner. It's the biggest change for the least effort.

Pick furniture that folds or stacks
On little space, go modular: a fold-down shelf against the railing, a storage bench (seat + storage), poufs that tuck underneath. Keep the floor clear and the space feels bigger.
Go vertical with greenery
When floor space is short, plant upward: railing planters, a plant ladder, a trellis with climbers. A green balcony feels larger and more private, and screens you from neighbours.
Get the evening light right
This is what makes a balcony magic after dark: festoon lights, a lantern, two candles. Low warm light, never a white spotlight, and the corner becomes a real outdoor lounge.

Keep a tight palette
Two or three natural tones (linen, terracotta, green) plus wood are enough. Too many colours on little space looks messy. Consistency is what reads as polished.
A good balcony is less about size than intention: a floor, a seat, greenery, light. Start with the floor this weekend, the rest will follow.
